Exploring Peachtree Complete Accounting 2011
CHAPTERS 1 – 8
Internet sites are time and date sensitive. It is the purpose of these exercises to have you explore the Internet. You may need to search for current sites.  Directions for doing web searches are included in the Search Engine category below. 
·        ACCOUNTING MONOPOLY AND ACCOUNTING CROSSWORD PUZZLES – Chapter 1
2.      Read the directions and then play accounting monopoly. Students should form into groups of no more than 4 players. Each student needs an envelope and file folder.
Ø      Another Accounting Monopoly site is at http://www.uwec.edu/ulstadic/monopoly/index.htm.
Ø      To read about the history of the Internet, go online to  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet.
3.       Accounting crossword puzzles are online at www.accountingcrosswords.com. In the Crosswords for list (left side of window), select a topic. Then, in the Interactive field, click Open to start a puzzle.

  • ACCOUNTING STUDENTSChapter 2
1.      Go to the accounting students website at http://accounting.smartpros.com/accountingstudents.xml
2.      From the News & Insights area, select an article of interest. Then, write a 50-word summary of the story (maximum length is 75 words).  Include the website of the article you are writing about.  (Hint, you can copy then paste the website address into your summary.)
3.      Explore additional areas of this website.  Then, write up a summary of what you have seen and read. Your summary should have no more than 75 words or less than 50 words. 
  • AMERICAN ACCOUNTING ASSOCIATION – Chapter 3
1.      Go to the American Accounting Association website http://aaahq.org.
2.      Go to Links & Organizations.  From this site, select three areas to explore.
3.      Write a summary about each area explored. Remember to include the website address of each link. Your summary should be no more than 100 words or less than 75 words.

  • THE AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF CPAs – Chapter 4
1.      Go to the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants website http://www.aicpa.org/
2.      Link to Publications; Journal of Accountancy.  Select CURRENT ISSUE. Select an article to read. Write a summary of the article. Your summary should have no more than 75 words or less than 50 words. Include the appropriate website addresses.
3.      Go back to the http://www.aicpa.org/ website. Go to at least two other links. Write a summary of what you saw. Your summary should have no more than 75 words or less than 50 words. Include the appropriate website addresses. 
  • ASK.COM – Chapter 5
1.      Go to this website http://www.ask.com to ask questions.
2.      In the Ask box type the following question:  What does the technical term Web portal mean? Write an answer to this question. Include the appropriate website addresses.
3.      Ask another question, for example, What does the financial term balance sheet mean? Write the answer to this question. Include the appropriate websites.
4.      Ask two other questions that are related to accounting. Write an answer to each question. Include the appropriate website addresses.

  2. On the Salary Wizard page, select a job category; for example, Accounting. Select a state/metro area, or type a zip code. Click Search.
  3. In one of the job categories listed, link to Base salary range.
  4. Go back to the Salary Wizard. Compare salaries in two states/metro areas.
  5. Write a summary of what you have found (minimum length 75 words; maximum length 100 words). Explain the job description and salary. Include the appropriate website addresses.
